Puttalam District Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agribusiness was established in 2006 by a group of eminent businessmen in the area to be the foremost private sector representative body in the district under the guidance of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). The Chamber was established with 10 members and within two years, membership has increased up to 81 with a divers geographical and sectroal   representation.

Puttalam District Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agribusiness is member of the FCCISL. Mainly chamber is providing its services through Business Center, Business School and other Trade services. Through the business Center Chamber provides trade information, arranging trade fairs, consultations, preparing project proposals, other secretarial services to the members. Also chamber is playing immense role in enhance the capacity of human resources of the district through chamber business school. Apart from that Puttalam Chamber plays major role as Secretary to the District Enterprise Forum – Puttalam which is chair by District Secretary of Puttalam. The Forum is a platform to identify, discuss, recommend and solve the business related problems of the district.

“Membership Day ‘is one of innovative approach of the chamber. Membership Day where members, public sector and leading private sector official have been given an opportunity to meet and network while attracting new members to the chamber. In recognition of this successful membership promote programme chamber was adjudged as the second runner –up under category of Best New Membership Recruitment Project in the first chamber competition 2008, organized by FCCISL. It was one of year mark award of Puttalam district chamber.
